Ayurveda is a sister science of yoga. Where yoga is commonly known in the West as a practice of various poses and exercises, Ayurveda is the series of best practices to promote wellness. The literal translation of Ayurveda is the science of life. This ancient wisdom is a way of eating and lifestyle with the overall goal of bringing the human experience towards enlightenment. Ayurveda is a multi-faceted approach to health which includes nourishing the body with food. Food is medicine and what we place in our bodies has the potential to help our harm our bodies. There is a common misconception that Ayurvedic eating is limited to Indian food, however, this is untrue. As long as the principles of Ayurvedic food preparation and management are honored any type of cuisine can be enjoyed. At Enlightened Eats we focus primarily on marrying Western recipes with overall Ayurveda when formulating recipes.
